Process: Standard woodcut cut while on site
Image: I went to the Valley of Fire with two blocks and
decided to sketch and cut on scene. The soft basswood allows me to draw with
my tools rapidly and the result is fresher than my studio woodcuts.
This road winds into the bowels of the park, a road that used to be dirt and
a long walk, now a happy two-lane...always a sad feeling when access, once the
exclusive property of the hiker, is given to the automobile.
