Images Resume I believe in the language of art--form, color, scale, position, direction, balance--and its ability to communicate directly without verbal addition.
I hope I can make a composition so deeply felt, and so simple that I can communicate to other people the fact that we share many subtle feelings; that we are not alone. I have felt that in other people's work whom I admire like Cy Twombly, Brice Marden, Joan Mitchell and the woodblock printmaker, Karen Kunc.I think political art overtakes the power of the visual image and ends up undermining it.
I also believe that restraint is an important part of our emotional life, and for that reason the woodcut seems particularly appropriate for me. The color possibilities of the reduction woodblock plus the natural restraint caused by the act of carving make me feel that the medium is a natural for me.
